Your child's day at Gan Gani typically begins with sensory, fine motor and cognitive skill-based activities. We then gather for circle time to sing some basic Jewish prayers and explore a topic of interest through a story, puppets, drama, or an experiment. This is followed by a snack and open play with opportunities for crafts, block play, reading readiness and dramatic play. After clean up, the children participate in a gross motor activity or a music lesson. The afternoon program consists of outdoor play, hot lunch and nap/quiet time. The day concludes with more outdoor and open play and enrichment activities.
Our open classroom is aestically and intentionally arranged to foster indepedent learning, creativity, and problem solving. Activities include block play, dramatic play, loose parts, cognitive manipulatives, all types of sensory play, varied craft activities and a library corner.
Coordination skills and body awareness are developed through stretching, aerobics, music and movement and the use of equipment outside or in the gym.
We gather as a group to form connections through song and breathing exercises. Jewish holidays and traditions as well as classic preschool curriculum topics are introduced through provocations, drama, song and hands-on activities. We aknowledge the children's emergent interests and often explore them during Maagal and throughout the day.
The English and Hebrew alphabets are presented through kinesthetic activities, fine motor activities and song. Upon completing the unit the children each take home an ABC or Aleph Bet book they have created themselves.
Books and storytelling are important parts of our daily program. Our school library has a selection of Jewish children's books to borrow.
Children conduct age-appropriate experiments as they learn about magnets, colours, leaves, plant cuttings, solids and liquids and more!
Our twice-weekly music sessions feature songs, rhythm instruments, and creative movement. Morah Orly joins us bi weekly for a kindermusik workshop.
A certified Yoga instructor facilitates sessions throughout the year, enhancing children's strength, flexibility, concentration, balance and coordination.
Children measure, mix, and learn about ingredients as we bake or cook delicacies for our weekly Shabbat party.
The weekly Torah reading comes alive as it is taught to the children through puppets and drama. Social Emotional lessons from the Torah bring the message home to the children in a relevant and age-appropriate manner.
Friday is a special day at Gan Gani as we end the week with our traditional Shabbat Party. Girls and boys are encouraged to wear 'something special' in honour of the occasion.
We ususally plan a monthly class trip to places like the London Dairy Farm, Heemans Greenhouse, and Apple Land. Parents are encouraged to join us.

“I love that we are provided with updates weekly and pictures daily so it is easier to have conversations about activities done throughout the day or reinforce things that have been taught."

"I cannot wait to watch my son helping during Shabbat at home or hear him singing during the holidays. Gan Gani is a wonderful base for Jewish life. Totally recommend."
